Once your registration is confirmed, you will receive detailed recommendations regarding arrival and departure times (so you can catch the shared private transportation to and from our villa). In the meanwhile, here are the basics: 1) Fly to Keflavík International Airport (KEF) in Iceland and collect all of your luggage; 2) take an (approximately 45-minute) easy public transit (or arrange a private driver for yourself) to the Reykjavík City Center BSI Bus Terminal; 3) meet us and your fellow adventurers at the BSI Bus Terminal; 4) travel with our retreat group in a passenger van through Iceland’s countryside to our beautiful, lakeside peninsula property where you will be welcomed with a glass of sparkling! For those choosing to rent their own vehicle, we will send you the exact property address prior to your arrival.  

• Airfare. You are responsible for getting yourself to and from Iceland, and to the Reykjavík City Center Bus Terminal. (Detailed recommendations regarding your arrival and departure time will be given after booking.)
• Transportation on your Self-Guided Day.
• Transportation that falls outside of the planned group travels (e.g. if your flight restricts you from traveling with the group on the arrival or departure days, your transportation would be your responsibility). You can use private transportation shuttle companies or rent your own car for the week for any additional transport needs.
• Breakfast and lunch on your arrival day, lunch on your Self-Guided Day, and lunch and dinner on your departure day. We invite you to immerse yourself in Icelandic delicacies in the nearby town like fresh caught Arctic Char, local licorice, or decadently prepared lamb.
• Any extra activities beyond what is already listed for our planned time together that you want to do in Iceland such as a tour of the Golden Circle; a horseback ride on the Arctic beach; side-by-side backcountry trail driving; or anything else that intrigues you.
• Extra drinks and snacks outside of our prepared meals at the villa. Visit a local grocery store for your favorite beverage to enjoy with dinner or savor an afternoon refreshment while we’re out exploring together.
• Travel insurance isn’t required, but it is highly recommended. Life happens abroad just like it does at home, so making sure you are prepared for anything is a really good idea. Upon your request, we can provide you with ideas of where to get travel insurance.

There are 3 separate excursions that will take place on 3 separate days.

1. The Extreme backcountry Jeep riding day to Þórsmörk will have small walks and 1 longer hike within the 1 day. The small walks during the Jeep tour might be 15-30 minutes of light walking. Depending how often you stop for photos and delicious rest, the 1 longer walk could take anywhere from 1hr-15min to 2 hours if you choose to take the trail that ascends to the top of the mountain and descends to our mountain lunch destination. This longer hike is ideal for both beginners and experienced hikers. Otherwise, instead of doing the longer hike, you could choose to take a lower trail that could take 20-30 minutes to our mountain lunch destination. Or, if you choose to not hike/walk, the driver will bring you to our lunch location where you’ll get that delicious rest as you await everyone’s arrival.
2. The ice cave adventuring walk could be around 45 minutes to 1-hour of walking.
3. The glacier ice walking will be around 3 hours in total. It will take around 30 minutes to walk to the ice from our vehicle, we’ll be on the ice for around 2 hours, and then it’ll take around 30 minutes to walk back to our vehicle.

After breakfast and morning movement, we will come together where you will be lead through inquiry in a thought-provoking, creative process that inspires you to maximize your potential for this one, precious life. Let the all-day sunlight wake you up to and shine light on what you’ve been sleeping on or have set on autopilot. Let Mother Nature’s geological phenomenons showcase how paradox, polarity, and contrast are vital to fully thrive in life and feel alive. Play in the depths of what is possible for your life with us as we lead you through a curated experience of thought-leadership. All meals will be prepared by our private Chef and we’ll have plenty of down time throughout the day. Also, we know this is your trip—and we welcome and encourage you to choose into or opt out of any activities/classes we offer. You are free to enjoy in as many or as few group offerings that feel best to you. 

That’s totally OK. All group activities are optional—but highly encouraged to attend so you can get the most out of the retreat experience and community building.

Remember those books that let you decide how the story would unfold? This day is all about you: what kind of adventure does your soul need?

You could book an excursion with a local excursion provider for them to pick you up, take you on a tour, and then drop you off at our property. Excursions could range from touring the iconic Golden Circle where you get to experience geological phenomenons of all things fire and ice from blowing geysers, boiling mud, tectonic plates, geothermal spas, glaciers, and waterfalls. Your day could be spent in the nearby major town and partake in Icelandic cuisine and shopping. We are 35 minutes away from a major town in Iceland and 20 minutes from a small village.

You might head off alone, or you might feel called to join a fellow participant or group to share your day.

NOTE: Uber is not available in Iceland. Taxi takes the form of a pre-arranged shuttle. So, you will need to pre-plan (likely at least 1 day before needing the transport) for your own needs. Often, I find that many participants during the retreat create plans together and split fares.

Yes, parking is easy. We are staying on a property that has a long, private natural driveway and parking spots. So, you could park alongside the driveway or in a parking spot. Note: check with the car rental company if they require you to have an international driver’s license. Rebekah did not need an international driver’s license during her recent Icelandic car rental experience.

Yes, yoga—along with all the other group activities—is totally optional.

The yoga practiced will be completely accessible for all levels, all abilities, and all bodies. Even if you have never stepped foot on a yoga mat, you will be guided safely through the practice. Bay is a certified yoga instructor with nearly 15 years of teaching experience (and nearly 30 years of yoga practice), and will provide modifications and alternate options for you to choose if you wish.

This retreat is exclusive for folks who are age 18 or older.

Essentially, yes, which is a leading factor as to why Iceland is rated the 3^rd happiest places to live on Mother Earth (sun has your your body naturally release serotonin—the happiness hormone). You will get a chance to bask in the midnight sun…something I encourage you to do at least once because it really is magical. Plunge in the lake, soak in the hot tub, or simply be outside to get that serotonin. In June, Iceland gets around 22-hours of daylight with the remaining 2 hours that look like dusk/twilight. So, this means bring your favorite sleeping eye mask! That bright sun finds her way through the cracks of the room darkening shades, and there is no shade on the tippity-top triangle window of the beautiful A-Frame Shalas. So, you surely will want to have your mask on if you are a light-sensitive sleeper.

All rooms have 2 twin beds with an ensuite bathroom, so if you’re traveling solo, you’ll have the opportunity to foster a new friendship with the person we’ve paired you with and share a beautiful suite/shala with them.

You could always enroll a friend or partner to share the room and the experience!

Each of you can purchase separately, or one person can purchase a quantity of 2 when signing up for the retreat. After signing up, a Participant Form will be emailed to you where you can indicate your roommate’s name.

Your commitment to joining us in Iceland is an honor to us, and an honor to yourself, too. We don’t take your investment lightly, and, as your $777 deposit is non-refundable, we strongly suggest purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip and yourself while you travel. We know firsthand that circumstances can change our best-laid plans. Life happens abroad just like it does at home, so making sure you are prepared for anything is a really good idea.

Service is generally available, and the main house is equipped with Wi-Fi. We recommend calling your cell phone provider to ensure international coverage prior to the trip. Before arriving, we encourage you to set an intention of what you want to get out of the retreat and consider whether staying connected to the hustle and bustle fosters that intention.

Well, first of all, we suggest getting really excited and telling everyone about your upcoming adventure (studies show that people who spend more time anticipating a trip will have a better time!). We will definitely be getting really excited about you joining us!

Next, you will receive an email confirmation with itinerary, suggested packing list, and a Participant Agreement that you will need to sign and send back. We will also have a group Zoom call prior to our retreat to answer any questions you might have.

No. Iceland is well-acquainted with using English, and we’ve ensured our guides, Chef, and associated staff all speak English.
